What is CBG?
There are about 100 different cannabinoid compounds found in the cannabis plant. As scientists continue to conduct research, they are finding that each compound has specific roles and functions when interacting with the endocannabinoid system. CBD and THC are the most popular, but cannabinoids like CBG are starting to make waves in both the scientific and cannabis communities.
What is CBG?
CBG is one of the rarest cannabinoid compounds and usually only makes up 1 percent of most strains. However, CBG plays an essential role in the cannabis plant. It is often referred to as the mother of all cannabinoids because other cannabinoids are directly derived from cannabigerol acid, an acidic form of CBG. Like CBD, it is nonpsychoactive and binds to both CB1 and CB2 receptors.
CBG benefits
Like other cannabinoids, CBG is known to relieve chronic pain and inflammation. It also effectively treats health conditions associated with IBS, glaucoma, and Huntington’s Disease. In addition, CBG is also known to combat anxiety and relieve symptoms due to cancer, such as nausea.
How to use CBG
The best way to reap the benefits of CBG is through pure CBG oil. However, CBG is commonly found paired with other cannabinoid products like broad-spectrum CBD oil.
