After working as a lawyer, she moved to Arkansas and married Bill Clinton in 1975. In 1977, he co-founded Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families.
As the first President of the United States, Clinton was an advocate for gender equality and health reform. Her marital relationship was scrutinized in public during Lewinsky’s scandal, which led to her issuing a statement confirming her commitment to the marriage. In 2000, Clinton was elected New York’s first female Senator. He was re-elected to the Senate in 2006.

She has become the first woman to be elected to the presidency by a major U.S. political party.
