How to Cut Your Waist-Length Hair with Layers

- Advertisment -

Wearing your hair with layers is a great way to add volume to your hair and bring out the best qualities. Most people, when they think of layers, think of wearing it in a praid or a ponytail.

You can create this look, but it’s not necessary. With some simple tools and some trial and error, you can create the layers that will make you the center of attention in your wedding day pictures.

Waist-length hair with layers doesn’t have to be cut down to where you can see the roots. You can let your hair fall naturally and just play with the different lengths. The key is to play with layers so that you can get the look that works for you. You can even experiment with what looks good on you.

Before you start, you’ll need to determine what you would like the layers to do. For instance, you might put some up high and others down low for a more sophisticated look. If you wear your hair short, some of the layers could go to the back of your head to add height.

On the other hand, if you prefer your hair long, you could let some of the layers fall down past your eyes. It all depends on what you would like to do with your hair as you choose the layers that will be used to create your look. Before these steps you need to know about how long is waist length hair.

Hair Cutting Shear

To cut your layers, you’ll need a good hair cutting shear that is long enough. Longer hair requires that the shears are used to cut more hair at one time. You should try to get one that is fairly cheap so that you can afford a lot of these when you need them. There are a lot of good brands that are both affordable and built well.

Gel or Mousse

To start, use a lot of gel or mousse in your hair before you cut the layers. This will help them stick to your hair and stay there. You will be able to achieve more layers on your hair if you have this type of product on top.

After you have applied the mousse, trim the ends at chin length or longer to make it easier. Do not cut your hair at an angle, as it will look unruly. Start by trimming about an inch above the temples in the front of your head and about three inches behind the ears.

Then take your clippers and cut the layers at the back of the head closest to your ears. Then move to the mid-back area of your head and cut the layers there, also. Keep going from the mid-back to the front of your head and cut the layers in the front and the back of your head where the waist-length hair is concerned. The layers that are closest to your scalp should be cut last to allow them to grow in on their own.

Final Words

Once all of the hair has been cut, you can put it into a large bowl or container in order to air dry. You can use a hairbrush to do this or a blow dryer on a high setting. It is best if you can let your hair dry on its own, but if you must, blow dry it for a few minutes.

This will speed up the drying process. Use conditioner to keep your hair soft and smooth.

After your hair has dried, you will want to use a diffuser to smooth out the hair strands. You will need to use the right one for your hair type. If you have curly hair, then you might want to try a diffuser with a larger size.

If you have straight hair, then you may want to use a diffuser with a smaller size. When you use the diffuser to smooth out the hair, make sure to only use a tiny amount. You do not want any stray hair left over from using the diffuser.
